SnapSports® Championship Volleyball Surfacing Key Player in 2018 Mizuno Big South National Qualifier

Friday, March 30th, 2018

SnapSports 50-50 ShockTower Surfacing chosen for Championship Volleyball courts for 2018 Mizuno Big South National Qualifer in Atlanta.

Salt Lake City based SnapSports is once again a key player in the annual Mizuno Big South National Qualifier volleyball tournament. 2018 marks the event’s 30th year, taking place March 30–April 1st at Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center. The tournament features over 200,000 ft2 of SnapSports 50-50 ShockTower volleyball surfacing.

This year the event showcases 1200 top teams competing for 3 days in 19 different divisions. The Big South National Qualifier remains the nation’s largest single weekend volleyball event. 60 of the 160 event courts use advanced SnapSports 50-50 ShockTower Surfacing for both tournament and championship play. The tournament will conclude by sending 34 teams home with a bid to USA Volleyball’s Junior National Championships.

The easy choice for Big South Officials was SnapSports 50-50 ShockTower surfacing. This is the only modular athletic surface with a built-in shock absorption system–engineered for performance.

“We could not be happier with this SnapSports sports flooring. We found the installation was faster because it eliminated a time consumer step of first having to put down an underlayment and the locking mechanism of the tile worked great. The larger module made it easier to handle both during installation and teardown and from an aesthetic standpoint; they made our tournament look classier and cleaner. We heard many positive comments from the athletes and their coaches about much they enjoyed playing on SnapSports Championship Volleyball Courts.” –Randy Dagostino of the Big South National Qualifier

The patented 50-50 ShockTower Technology provides an added level of “cush”. This reduces impact on the players’ joints and limbs and eliminates the need for time consuming and costly underlayment. The “50-50” comes from the 50 cm dimensions, ensuring quick setup and fewer seams. SnapSports Volleyball flooring also ensures a consistent playing surface and excellent coefficient of friction. Because of these factors, this floor really performs.

The team at SnapSports have been engineering, manufacturing, and providing leading sport surfaces for nearly four decades. They are proud to have their product as a key part in the continued success of the Big South National Qualifier. SnapSports manufactures 24/7, in a 100,000 square foot ISO 9001:2008 quality certified facility in Salt Lake City, UT, and is supported by an authorized global network.

The 2017 Big South National Qualifier Volleyball Tournament took place at the Georgia World Congress Center March 31st – April 2nd, with over 40 championship volleyball courts. The Big South Championships hosted over 1400 teams playing on 200,000 square feet of our multi-patented 50-50 athletic surfacing with ShockTower® Technology.  The nation’s elite girls volleyball teams, ages 12 – 18, competed in the 3-day Stay & Play event with winners awarded bids in the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship Divisions. SnapSports® provides this event’s choice flooring for the third consecutive year.

“SnapSports’ 50-50 ShockTower is by far the best and easiest product that we have ever used to put down and to dismantle for a large event like Big South. We were able to shave three hours off of tear down thanks to the SnapSports system. The athletes love playing on it!” – Randy Dagostino, Director Big South National Qualifier

When choosing championship volleyball courts, officials of the Big South National Qualifier were looking for a high-quality floor that was easy to put down and disassemble, with consistent ball play that would deliver the industry’s safest play for the thousands of elite athletes scheduled to compete on each court. The clear choice was SnapSports 50-50 with ShockTower.

“SnapSports has consistently developed game changing sports products over the decades. We developed the ShockTower, an innovation greatly reducing the force sustained by athletes during aggressive play and eliminating the need for underlayment. We have now combined ShockTower Technology with the 50-50 sports surface, the industry’s largest module. We have seen great success in both our domestic and international market with many demanding this superior flooring for their athletes to compete on.” – Jorgen Moller, CEO SnapSports

SnapSports’ patented ShockTower technology is the only modular sports flooring with built-in shock absorbers throughout, delivering an added level of “cush” to reduce impact on players’ joints and limbs. Combined with 50-50, the largest modular volleyball flooring system, which delivers up to 70% fewer seams throughout an official size volleyball court, there is no better volleyball flooring available for performance and safe play.

Why a Backyard Court is More Popular Than a Backyard Pool

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016

What is a backyard court? Typically, it’s an area in the backyard where you have a concrete slab poured to the size of game court with a modular athletic surface on top for safer play, performance, and all-weather playability. There are several companies who manufacture and provide these surfaces, but SnapSports® Athletic Surfaces of Salt Lake City is the clear leader.

An outdoor multi-purpose court is much more practical than a pool, which kids typically stop using after a few years. Then there is the costly maintenance and constant upkeep with a pool, unlike a backyard court.

Typically with companies like SnapSports, you can easily convert your court from just basketball to include any additional sports such as volleyball, inline hockey, pickleball, paddle tennis, shuffleboard, and many other sports and activities.

So why are these backyard courts becoming so popular?

  • Convenience – What’s better than having your own custom backyard rec center?
  • Safety – You’ll always know where you kids are and who they are with.
  • Health – Promotes a lifelong habit of healthy sports fun

With the advent of these safer all-weather sports surfaces being adopted by not only families around the country, but top level sports organizations like NBA, AAU, FIBA, US Futsal, Volleyball associations and more, it is safe to say that you will see many more backyard courts in your neighborhood soon.
